The Casco Bay Classic Sportfishing Tournament was founded by a group of anglers operating out of Spring Point Marina in South Portland, Maine as an affiliation of M.A.R.C. They shared a vision of an enjoyable and exciting fishing tournament that would bring anglers together while supporting a worthwhile cause. A friend and member's experience with the disease ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis} would prove to be the inspiration for the group. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a degenerative motor neuron disease that targets the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The disease is fatal with most affected patients dying of respiratory compromise and pneumonia after 2 to 3 years. At this time there is no known cure.

2012 will mark the 7th annual Casco Bay Classic Sportfishing Tournament. We are proud to say that we have risen over $150,000 to date to operate and support this event and cause. The 2011 tournament will also mark the second year of support for the Portland Firefighters Children’s Burn Foundation whose hard work provides relief to burn survivors and their families as well as providing education and training to further prevent burn injuries.
